The Next Generation of Xcelsius – Secret Squirrel*

SAP BO Dashboards (Xcelsius) remains in a class of its own for its fast and simple way to create amazing BI dashboards. Sadly, SAP is not planning to support it from 2021 onwards. But all is not lost as a new development initiative is underway to produce a next generation follow-on solution that provides all the key functionality, along with a migration utility to convert your existing SAP BO Dashboards. The project, led by InfoSol UK Labs, is code named “Secret Squirrel” and this session will explain why, how, what and when. We will provide the background into the project, discuss the roadmap (past, present) and demo the latest build of “Squirrel”. For the last part of the session we will be running a user influence session where people can propose enhancements, discuss ideas and the direction we’ve taken, and have a chance to pick our brains about the future of “Squirrel”.

USPI’s "License Free" Self-Service Analytics Portal*

United Surgical Partners International (USPI) has moved away from a “Push” reporting model to building out a custom Enterprise Business Intelligence Portal where thousands of end-users can go to in order to see their reports and dashboards, or build there own reports that they need to make their necessary decisions to run their business – license free! Utilizing BusinessObjects Launchpad was the “out of the box” solution, but would require each user to consume a BO License to access their reports and dashboards. USPI instead built an enterprise reporting portal that did NOT require every user to log into BusinessObjects and consume a license. This portal needs to provide the capability of ad-hoc query building and applications that could write-back data to a database – is this possible in a license-free home grown portal that still leverages Business Objects? Come find out how USPI made this vision a reality.

How to design Web Intelligence reports that will behave like real Dashboards?*

Learn how the latest features introduced in Web Intelligence 4.2 allow you to create real and live reports that can behave like dashboards. This session will include: How to solve the layout issue? How to position the different blocks for better rendering? And what kind of interactions can be imagined?

How to Troubleshoot a Dashboard*

Dashboards come in all shapes and complexities. There are dashboards that are simple and easy to understand and some that have so many moving parts it can be difficult keeping track of everything. And when something breaks down or goes wrong with a complex dashboard, it can be hard to pin point the exact issue. This session will go through some best practices and strategies when attempting to troubleshoot issue and demonstrate some examples of common problems faced as well as obscure, hard to evaluate issues.

Improving the User Experience of your Dashboard – Part 2: The Dazzle*

What makes a dashboard not just stand out but so cool that you love using it and want to show it to everyone you know? This session will show you how you can make your dashboards both dazzle while being easy and fun to use ensuring maximum user adoption. Using a combination of color, design, dynamic visualization, animations you can create a “wow” factor that will make your dashboard pop and get your users excited.

Building Custom BI Dashboards*

While there are a lot of great BI dashboard tools on the market, they rarely meet all the needs and demands of what many organizations want to build. This is particularly true when there is a need for mobile, collaboration, write-back and high performance and scalability. So, rather than struggling to fit your requirements to the BI dashboard tool, why not build a custom BI dashboard that fits all of your requirements? This session will show some really cool examples of custom BI dashboards and applications built from scratch to meet a diverse spectrum of user needs and show how they can be both business effective and cost effective.

Handling Out-of-Control Super-Sized Dashboards*

Xcelsius (SAP BO Dashboards) is an incredibly powerful and useful tool that can produce visually dynamic applications that change the way we consume data. But, all tools have their limits, and there are occasions where a dashboard gets built up so large and complex, with so many components, connectors and data, it can start causing application issues and become unstable. Join Taylor as he discusses issues faced like this in real-world scenarios, and solutions to fix dashboards like these.

Using Tableau with WebI: From Novice to Knowledge*

As report designers, we need to use the best tool for each job. With more than a thousand hands-on consumers of 32,000+ reports, Web Intelligence is our go-to reporting solution at the University System of New Hampshire. Then came Tableau, with its bubble charts and heat maps and dashboards and data stories.

Not to worry! Tableau experts were hired, so we WebI developers could stay happily ensconced in our reporting world. That is until this year, when our supervisor tasked each WebI developer with creating a Tableau solution using WebI data. This case study will walk through our learning process, some pitfalls and best practices and demonstrate the creation of a call center dashboard using WebI data and Tableau visualizations.

Unsure Which Dashboarding Tool to Use?*

HTML5, PowerBI, Tableau, Web Intelligence…. What is happening with Adobe and Flash? What about Java? What are my alternatives? In this topic, we will take a look at all of the above. Frankly and sincerely, there has never been a better time for InfoBurst for Dashboards than now. Clients using InfoBurst are in THE BEST position to transition to practically any dashboarding front end display tool without needing to modify the data source. Are you using QAAWS (Query as a Web Service) to power SAP Dashboards to flash or HTML5? Move to InfoBurst to offload the sessions and load. Are you wanting to transition to Tableau or Power BI? Go ahead – your XDCs can work there! Want to use SQL directly as a data source for some dashboards? Sure! Need to improve performance with cache queries instead of huge upfront queries? InfoBurst is the expert! Need to expose some data externally but not link directly to an internal data source? You guessed it – CAN do! And so much more. If you aren’t sure what dashboard front end you will be using over the next few years and/or if you want to give your users the option to use various front ends, then now is the absolute BEST time for InfoBurst for Dashboards.
