Virtual Speaker Checklist

We’ve gathered a few requirements to help make our experience great!
  • Begin by sitting close to the screen. This way your face fills most of it.
    • Clean the lens.
    • If you use your hands a lot when you present, frame the shot to include your hands.
    • Wear clothes that contrast with your backdrop.
    • Use a professional background.

  • Make sure you are at eye level with your camera and you have nice lighting and background
    • Do not sit with the window behind you.
    • When talking, spend some time looking at the camera, not the screen whenever possible. We understand this may be hard during a live demo.
    • If you wear glasses, move the light or camera until the glare is out of your eyes.
    • Turn down the brightness of your monitor to reduce glare.

  • Use an external headset or microphone with your computer audio. This way, you don’t sound like you are boxed in or any echos.

  • Backup Audio Options: Have a cellphone dialed in but make sure to keep it on mute. Try to avoid WiFi calling.

  • Optimize your home internet!
    • Check and tighten all connections
    • Hard wire your internet connection with an Ethernet cable.
    • Or, if you have to use WiFi:
      • 5GHz WiFi is the best option for line of sight of your wireless router.
      • If your router is beyond a wall or two then 2.4GHz will be the better choice.
    • Close out any other apps
    • Turn off other internet devices in home:
      • Streaming Devices
      • Tablets and Phones
      • Game systems and Smart TVs
